Thank You Blue Jays
November 1st will go down as a day of heartbreak for an entire country of baseball fans. We were two outs away from total elation, but it wasn’t meant to be. The Dodgers rallied, sealed the win, and repeated as World Series champions — and just like that, our dream season ended.
This loss hurts. And it’s going to hurt for a while. For a whole generation of fans, this was their first taste of heartbreak like this. They don’t remember the 1992 win over Atlanta. They don’t remember Joe Carter’s walk-off in 1993 against Philadelphia. Now they know what it’s like to feel everything — the hope, the belief, and the crushing silence when it slips away.
People love to say, “Toronto is a hockey city.” Those people are wrong. Toronto is a sports city. This city gets behind every team that dares to dream big. Just look at the Raptors’ championship run in 2019 — nobody thought they’d do it, and they did. The entire city and country embraced them as their own. And funny enough, when we look back, nobody talks about the final game of that Finals series. We talk about Kawhi — and the Shot against Philly. Because that’s what we do as fans. We live in the moments that define us.
And that’s exactly what this Blue Jays team was — a moment. A moment you couldn’t look away from, because anything could happen. From Opening Day to Game 7 of the World Series, the 2025 Toronto Blue Jays captivated a nation.
We watched Vlad Guerrero Jr. plant his flag and declare, “This is my home.”
We watched Addison Barger blossom before our eyes into a star on the rise.
We watched Trey Yesavage start the season in Dunedin and finish it rewriting the record books.
This team made us believe again.
Now comes the offseason — and yes, there will be questions. But not tonight. Tonight, we remember the ride. Because this team gave us something unforgettable. They gave us a season that made us proud, frustrated, euphoric, and completely emotionally drained — and we loved every second of it.
Sports have a way of bringing people together, and this team brought an entire country together. The fanbase won’t fade — it’ll only grow hungrier. Runs like this one don’t just make you dream of the mountaintop; they make you fight for it.
And to the fans still waiting to see the Jays win it all — I’ve seen it twice. Believe me, when you finally reach that summit, there’s nothing like it in the world.
There are tears in my eyes as I write this, because it’s sinking in that this magical ride is over. But from the bottom of my heart — thank you. To every player, coach, and member of the broadcast crew: thank you for taking us on this journey. Thank you for capturing the hearts of an entire nation.
See you in Dunedin.
I can’t wait for Spring Training.

Joe, this was beautifully written, and a sentiment a ton of us agree with. Great stuff here!
