Leafs Add Dakota Joshua
The Leafs have made another depth addition to their bottom-six forward group, acquiring Dakota Joshua from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick in 2028 on Thursday night. I think this will be a solid addition for Toronto, as Joshua brings grit and sandpaper to the lineup, but he can also contribute offensively.
Some might look at his stats and point out that he recorded only 14 points in 57 games last season, but keep in mind, he underwent surgery for testicular cancer. If you look at his last two seasons combined, Joshua has totalled 57 points, which paints a much clearer picture of his potential.
The interesting question now is: Who will be the next to leave? Joshua played centre for the Canucks, so if he slots into that role in Toronto, it likely means one of Järnkrok or Kämpf may be on the way out. We’ll see how things unfold in Leaf Land, but this is a smart move by Brad Treliving. A line featuring McMann, Roy, and now Joshua could be intriguing.
We’ll see what happens next.
Thanks for reading.
